Fee base includes tax
eBay.com charges the final value fee on the total sale amount: item price, shipping and handling charged, and the sales tax it collects. Sales tax is not your revenue, so it raises fees without raising profit.
Estimate profit after eBay’s final value fee, per-order fee, optional Promoted Listings, shipping and your product cost.
Enter the item price, the shipping you charge and the buyer’s sales tax rate, then your product and postage costs. The calculator applies the final value fee and per-order fee to the total sale amount, as eBay does, and shows profit, margin, break-even price and the price for a target margin.

For most categories the example uses 13.6% up to $7,500 and 2.35% on the portion above it. Many categories differ, and Store subscribers have their own tables, so change the rate and threshold for your listing.
eBay adds $0.40 to orders over $10 and $0.30 to orders of $10 or less. The calculator switches between your two entries automatically, using the total sale amount.

For most eBay.com categories, 13.6% of the total sale amount up to $7,500, plus a $0.40 per-order fee for orders over $10 ($0.30 for $10 or less), as listed on eBay’s selling fees page when we read it on 20 October 2026. In the example above that is $7.82, about 15.3% of the $51 you receive.
Yes. eBay’s fee page says the total sale amount includes the item price, handling, shipping paid by the buyer and sales tax (eBay.com selling fees ↗). That is why this calculator asks for the tax rate even though tax is not counted as revenue.
Insertion fees beyond your free listings (eBay lists 250 free per month, then $0.35 each), the international fee, Store subscription costs, below-standard seller surcharges and category exceptions. Add amounts that apply to Other costs, or change the rates.
The structure works, but the example rates are for eBay.com. Other eBay sites use their own fee tables and may include VAT differently. Replace every rate with the figures from your eBay site and treat the currency menu as a label only.
